Medical Team, Ill Luck or Precaution?

Just about an hour after the champions league draw yesterday (this was written then but somehow not posted), I got into a chat with a friend on my blackberry messenger list. We talked about the draw and pondered if getting AC Milan was a good or bad thing at this stage of the competition when we could have gotten Basel with the opportunity to show Manchester United how to play soccer and win champions league matches. Lol. Okay, enough of the taunting, my friend and I came to one conclusion about the draw – AC Milan, no matter how strong they seem are a very beatable team.

We went on from talking about the draw to discussing about our own team Arsenal FC and how most of our players would be returning from injury before or around the period of the first leg away at the San Siro. We talked about having Wilshere and Sagna especially back to team, which automatically increases our arsenal.

In between discussing injuries, my friend was quick to point out the fact that most of the players that get injured at Arsenal these days are billed to be out for a long while after a short time out would have been earlier announced. Wilshere was supposed to be out just 3 weeks, we later heard 5 months. Diaby was out for 5 months also, Vermaleen was out for about 2 -3 months , Sagna was supposed to sit out for 3 months and very recently Andre “attacking” Santos who picked up his injury in the needless game against Olympiacos in the champions league and was billed to sit out just 3 weeks but a few days ago, it was announced that he would be out for 3 months after undergoing surgery.

The dude was quick to point out the fact that most of the injuries at Arsenal now are no longer counted in weeks but months and he was quick to blame the Medical team of Arsenal FC for this. I immediately jumped to the defense of the Medical team because these injuries are not man-made and they are not caused by a heavy training schedule. I’m sure they sent these players in for surgery as precaution, so there is no relapse. The people on the Medical team are vastly experienced individuals led by the extremely competent Colin Lewin who is a chartered physiotherapist and has been with Arsenal for over 16years now.

Nobody (Staff or Fan) would want an important player for the team to sit out for so long. So I am very sure that even the medical team is gutted and can’t wait to push these players out of the treatment room. I know everyone has his/her opinion, so I leave you to choose…Medical team, ill luck or precaution? I go with a little bit of ill luck and more precaution. 1. IMO, i think its bad luck, same thing as the manshity game if u watched it i.e. Fate has a funny way of making things go against arsenal. . . .song, early carded, silva fluke after a fab save by our no.1, disallowed penalty, phil dowd reffing the game*rem newcastle last season*etc. Same thing wth our injuries, total bad luck i.m.o
